ABOUT ME

I was born in England, but moved to New Jersey in the USA in 2004 with my wife and our three children.    I write mostly novels, but also dabble in short stories and flash fiction.

My debut novel, Fur-Face, was published by Echelon Press on June 1st 2010 (presently available only in eBook form).   My short stories have appeared at Every Day Fiction (see also EDF's The Best of Every Day Fiction 2) anthology) and at FlashShot

I  also blog, mostly on LiveJournal at An Englishman in New Jersey, but I do the occasional guest posts elsewhere.

In a past life I was lead singer in a British rock band, Gentleman Jones.

If you have any questions about my writing, feel free to contact me.  In the meantime, I've made a list of the most common things I'm asked:

1.   WHERE CAN I BUY FUR-FACE?
Fur-Face was published as an eBook by Echelon Press on June 1st, 2010.  You can buy it at Amazon, nook or OmniLit.com.

2.   WHAT ARE THE SCI-FI BOOKS ABOUT?

Waking up Jack Thunder is a contemporary sci-fi/action-comedy about a shy scientist named Bobby Newton, who ends up on the run from the CIA and a crazed drug lord, after a sabotaged experiment leaves him with a copy of comatose, ex secret agent, Jack Thunder's brain stuck in his head.

Champion: A Union of Snakes is the first in an Adventure series about Richard Champion - a sort of medieval James Bond - who lives on a world devoid of evil rings, elves (or any other magical creatures), where Humans are just one of many species to evolve into "humanoid" form.

3.  WHEREABOUTS IN AUSTRALIA ARE YOU FROM?
I don't know why, but apparently I sound Australian to some of the Americans I meet.  I am in fact, English.

4.   AFTER SEEING YOUR PHOTO I HAVE TO ASK:
ARE YOU RELATED TO BRAD PITT?
No.  (The question might have been about "Mr Magoo" instead of Brad Pitt, I'm always getting those two confused).

5.   ARE YOU A MEMBER OF ANY WRITING GROUPS?
Yes, I belong to three.  The Greater Lehigh Valley Writer's GroupThe Monmouth Creative Writing Group
and the Garden State Horror Writers.  I'm also the founder and proud member of The New Jersey Author's Network and FindAWritingGroup.com.

6.   DO YOU DRINK TEA?
Yes, mostly first thing in the morning and no, never out of the saucer.

7.   I READ YOUR BLOG, AN ENGLISHMAN IN NEW JERSEY.  WAS YOUR OLD GRAN REALLY THE WAY YOU PORTRAY HER?
My Old Gran was truly one of a kind.  She taught me a lot about writing too (as explained here).

8.   DO YOU ENJOY LIVING IN THE USA?
Absolutely!  The language was a bit tricky at first.  For example:  UK 'chips' = USA 'fries', USA 'chips'= UK 'crisps'.  Oddly enough, the sign language for "I'm not completely impressed with your driving skills" is the same throughout the civilized world.

9.   YOU SURE YOU'RE NOT FROM AUSTRALIA?
I know I've answered this already, but some people don't believe me until I show them my passport.
